IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) is a long-term chronic condition of the bowel (gut) that causes episodes of abdominal cramps, bloating and either constipation or diarrhoea.

Sintomas

Common symptoms of IBS include tummy pain or cramps (often relieved by going to the toilet), bloating, farting, and changes in your bowel habits – like diarrhoea, constipation.

Tratamento

IBS doesn’t usually go away completely on its own. Many people find their symptoms can come and go, or become much more manageable over time, especially with the right lifestyle and dietary changes.

Dieta

A low FODMAP diet can help with IBS as it reduces certain types of carbohydrates that are poorly absorbed in the gut. These carbs can ferment in the digestive system and cause symptoms like bloating, gas, tummy pain, and diarrhoea.
