Normal function
The PYCR1 gene provides instructions for making a protein that is located in the energy-producing structures of cells, called mitochondria. The PYCR1 protein appears to be important for the function of mitochondria and it helps in the formation (synthesis) of the protein building block (amino acid) proline.
The formation of proline is a multi-step process that converts the amino acid glutamate to the amino acid proline. The PYCR1 protein carries out the last step in this process by turning pyrroline-5-carboxylate into proline. The conversion between proline and glutamate is important in maintaining a supply of the amino acids needed for protein production, and for energy transfer within the cell.

Doença renal policística
Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) causes many fluid-filled sacs (cysts) to develop in the kidneys. The most common type of PKD is an inherited condition called autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). With ADPKD, problems commonly do not develop until the age of 30-50, with some people never developing any problems. About half of ADPKD.

Pancreatite aguda
Qualquer pessoa com suspeita de pancreatite aguda será internada no hospital para realizar exames que descartem outros problemas (já que muitas condições podem causar sintomas semelhantes) e para confirmar o diagnóstico. Sangue tests can check the blood level of amylase and/or lipase (these são digestive enzymes made by the pancreas). Although not 100% reliable, a high blood level of.

Genes BRCA
There are a few known gene changes (mutations) that can increase the risk of certain cancers, and tests available for some of them, including BRCA1 e BRCA2 gene mutations. The BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes normally protect against certain cancers, particularly breast cancer and ovarian cancer. If there is a mutation in one of these genes then this may.
