NHS England has released supplementary information to aid in the implementation of changes to the 2026/27 GP contract. This includes details on the new practice-level GP reimbursement scheme designed to enhance GP capacity and ensure same-day access for clinically urgent requests. Key contract requirements include enabling patients to contact practices without needing to re-contact later and ensuring same-day responses for urgent requests.
Better visibility of repeat medicines in the NHS App
Updates to the NHS App prescriptions feature now allow patients to view all their active repeat medicines in one location. This update helps reduce confusion regarding prescription requests and supports safer medication management. All TPP practices are currently utilising this feature, with Optum practices set to implement it from June. Feedback can be shared using this form.
NHS cervical screening programme – Digital communication assets
New digital communication assets have been released to support the NHS cervical screening programme. These include social media assets, posters and digital screens, e Perguntas frequentes to assist healthcare providers in enhancing their messaging about the NHS App. Additionally, 90% of invitations for cervical screening are now being sent digitally, promoting user engagement with the NHS App. For inquiries, please contact england.digitalscreening@nhs.net.
