Air Fryer Crispy Herbed Chickpeas

These air fryer crispy herbed chickpeas are a revelation for those seeking a nutritious, savoury snack that delivers a satisfying crunch. By using the air fryer, you can achieve a perfectly crisp texture with very little oil, making this vegan dish a much lighter alternative to traditional fried snacks. The blend of aromatic rosemary, parsley, and chives, combined with a subtle heat from the cayenne and paprika, creates a complex flavour profile that is incredibly addictive.

This versatile recipe is ideal for healthy mid-afternoon grazing, but it also serves as an excellent gluten-free crouton substitute. Scatter the warm, spiced chickpeas over a fresh kale salad or a creamy vegetable soup to add depth and texture. Because they take less than fifteen minutes from larder to table, they are a fantastic store-cupboard staple for busy weekdays.

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1/2 teaspoons dried rosemary

  • 1/2 teaspoons dried parsley

  • 1/2 teaspoons dried chives

  • 1/4 teaspoons mustard powder

  • 1/4 teaspoons sweet paprika

  • 1/4 teaspoons cayenne pepper

  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients except the kosher salt and black pepper and toss until the chickpeas are evenly coated in the herbs and spices.
