Can I take Allopurinol and Losec together?

Why this happens

Allopurinol (used for gout) and Losec (a proton pump inhibitor used for acid reflux) are processed by different pathways in the body. They do not interfere with how each other is absorbed, broken down by the liver, or removed by the kidneys.

You can continue to take both medicines as prescribed by your doctor. It is usually best to take Losec in the morning before breakfast, while allopurinol is best taken after food to reduce the chance of an upset stomach.
