Can I take Allergan and Adanif together?

There is no known interaction between Allergan (a brand name for various eye drops, often containing brimonidine or lubricants) and Adanif (nifedipine). However, both medications can independently affect your blood pressure.

Why this happens

Allergan products (if they contain brimonidine) and Adanif (nifedipine) both have the potential to lower blood pressure, though they work in different ways. Nifedipine relaxes blood vessels, while brimonidine can have a mild systemic effect on the heart and blood vessels even when used as an eye drop.

You can generally take these medications together. However, if you are using Allergan eye drops that contain active medication (like brimonidine) alongside Adanif, you should monitor your blood pressure regularly. If you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or faint, contact your doctor. Always ensure your doctor knows all the medications you are using, including eye drops.
