Can I take 90 and Omega- fatty acids together?

Drug interaction guide

Taking omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil) alongside aspirin (Aspirin 90mg) can increase your risk of bruising or bleeding. This is because both substances have 'blood-thinning' effects. While this combination is sometimes prescribed by doctors for heart health, it requires careful monitoring.

Why this happens

Aspirin works by stopping blood cells called platelets from sticking together to form clots. Omega-3 fatty acids also have mild anti-platelet effects. When used together, they have an additive effect, making the blood take longer to clot.

You should speak to your doctor before combining these two. If your doctor has advised you to take both, watch out for signs of excessive bleeding, such as frequent nosebleeds, bleeding gums when brushing your teeth, or large bruises that appear without a clear reason. If you have an upcoming surgery or dental work, make sure to tell your surgeon or dentist that you are taking both aspirin and omega-3 supplements.
