Taking 5-HTP and losartan together may cause your blood pressure to drop lower than intended. This can make you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or faint, especially when standing up quickly.

Why this happens
Losartan is a medicine used to lower blood pressure. 5-HTP increases serotonin levels, which can also have a mild effect on relaxing blood vessels and lowering blood pressure. When used together, these effects can add up, leading to an increased risk of hypotension (low blood pressure).
What you should do
Back to contentsIf you decide to take both, you should monitor your blood pressure regularly at home. Be careful when getting out of bed or standing up from a chair. If you feel very dizzy, faint, or have a persistent headache, you should speak to your doctor, as your dose of losartan may need to be adjusted.
