Both alcohol and Zirtek (cetirizine) can make you feel sleepy, dizzy, and less alert. When taken together, these effects are much stronger. This can make it difficult to concentrate, increase the risk of accidents, and make you feel very drowsy.

Why this happens

Alcohol and cetirizine both affect the central nervous system. Even though Zirtek is a 'non-drowsy' antihistamine, it can still cause sleepiness in some people. Alcohol increases this effect, leading to greater impairment than if you took either one alone.

It is best to avoid or strictly limit alcohol while taking Zirtek. Do not drive, use tools, or operate machinery if you have consumed alcohol with this medication, as your coordination and reaction times will be significantly reduced.
